Senior Network Engineer

Our client is a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in 1998, they seek a dynamic and talented Senior Network Engineer to join our Networks team in New York.

They have a high performance, low latency network spanning over 20 countries and 40 colocation sites. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be exposed to the latest technologies with diverse user requirements, including:

  • High performance networking, with dense 10G and 40G environments
  • Ultra low latency (every nanosecond counts!)
  • Complex unicast and multicast routing


As a Senior Network Engineer, you will:

  • Maintain a diverse network across several continents
  • Provide second- and third-level support for Network technologies
  • Troubleshoot and analyze network-related performance issues
  • Improve our existing architecture to deliver a scalable, low latency network
  • Take a lead role in the design of our low latency networks, alongside other senior engineers
  • Collaborate with trading teams to add or modify network connectivity to financial exchanges
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule


  • Expert knowledge of WAN, LAN and datacenter network architectures
  • Expert knowledge of network design, network operation or network automation
  • At least 4 years of experience working with complex, high performance and/or low latency networks with many sites (data centers and/or trading facilities)
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco NX-OS/IOS and Arista EOS operating systems
  • Expert knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, MSDP, IGMP and PIM
  • Strong background in multicast design and operations
  • Strong knowledge of Unix or Linux and systems administration skills
  • Strong scripting skills for network automation
  • Finance background (preferred)
  • CCIE certified (preferred)

Candidates should also have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in telecommunications, computer engineering, or a related field
  • The ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced environment
